What it means
AI shopping assistants combine conversational search with product recommendation and, increasingly, direct purchase capability. A buyer describes what they need in plain language, gets a small set of recommended products with reasoning, and can complete the purchase without leaving the conversation. For merchants, being the product an assistant recommends is functionally equivalent to winning the buyer's decision, there's often no further comparison shopping after the recommendation.
