Domain Authority
A composite score predicting how well a domain ranks in search — a rough proxy for the brand authority signals that also influence AI recommendations.
What it means
Domain authority (DA) is a third-party metric (from Moz) scoring domains 1–100 based on backlink strength. While AI systems don't directly read DA, the signals that drive DA — quality backlinks, long history, strong brand presence — are the same signals that make an AI system trust a merchant enough to recommend them. A store with DA 50+ typically has enough authority infrastructure to rank in both Google and AI platforms.
Why it matters for Shopify
Shopify merchants who track domain authority as a proxy for brand credibility can use it as a rough indicator of AI recommendation likelihood alongside their platform-specific metrics.
