What it means
AI share of voice measures how often your store appears across a defined set of buyer queries submitted to AI platforms. It's calculated by running a test set of prompts repeatedly across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot, then tallying mention frequency. A store with 40% share of voice on "best [category] for [use case]" queries appears in nearly half of all relevant AI answers. This is the AI equivalent of Google share of voice reporting. Shopify merchants can track AI share of voice by category to understand whether they're winning or losing the AI recommendation race.
