Intent-to-Item Fulfillment
The execution step that follows intent-to-product matching, turning a selected product into a completed order, the point where agentic commerce becomes a real transaction.
What it means
Matching identifies which product fits the buyer's intent; fulfillment is the separate step of actually completing that purchase, checking real-time availability, confirming price, executing payment authorization, and placing the order. A product that matches perfectly but fails at fulfillment, out of stock, checkout error, unsupported payment method, still results in a lost sale. This is where ACP-level protocol support and reliable, real-time product availability data become operationally critical, not just a matching-quality problem.
Why it matters for Shopify
Shopify merchants need reliable real-time availability data and working agentic checkout support, since a perfectly matched product still loses the sale if fulfillment fails at the final step.
